Slight blog hiatus

So from the visit to immediately moving it may be a while before I can really sit down and blog. There is so much to blog about but finding the time and energy (where did it go?!) is near impossible.

But I have internet again! Whoo hoo! Can't wait to finish unpacking and getting more settled in and hopefully be able to blog more consistently then!

My adventure traveling while 7 months pregnant with an almost 16 month old. Part 1

So I've been meaning to find the time to blog about this but let's just say ever since I got back, I have been super busy! The house while never 100% super clean was not up to my "standards". I had tons of laundry to fold and catch up on, a completely empty fridge to stock up, cloth diapers to stuff, tons of baby clothes to sort and put away for Callie, and of course spend time with the little man!

On top of this we are getting ready to PCS to our next base! Hopefully our boxes show up today and I can start packing what things we don't need away! We will be doing the official move sometime on the 26th or 27th and I forget what day I get cable shut off but it may be a while until I am back and running again.

So back to this airplane trip. Wilson is now a toddler, a good 23-24 pound boy who LOVES LOVES LOVES to walk around. I decided to save money and fly with him in my lap, (what little lap there is left) and I am happy to say I will never do that again! Unless they are under 9 months or less. (If we happen to get to fly with Callie somewhere)

I packed lots of snacks, 2 sippy cups of juice/water mix, a book, his blanket, a toy, and diapers. The initial check in wasn't bad. I strapped him in his stroller and as long as I keep moving he is fine and not bored.

Once we boarded the plane though, that was a different story. I got a window seat and sat next to a nice grandfatherly gentleman. The plane was full so there wasn't any option of trying to ask for a seat by myself.

At this point after sitting for about 15-20 minutes, Wilson was definitely bored and really wriggly. My lap is not comfortable and all my efforts of trying to distract him weren't really working. He wanted out and wanted to run around! He wasn't full blown meltdown yet but we finally took off and he got a little distracted by watching the plane take off.

Lucky for me, the man sitting next to me was very nice and didn't mind that Wilson was trying to crawl on him. I restrained him but he then got distracted by a beaded african bracelet the man was wearing. He played with it for a good 10 minutes and I kept saying how sorry I was that he was grabbing him.

When we started to descend, Wilson's ears started popping and he DID NOT like that at all. I kept trying to get him to suck and drink his juice or pacifier. He calmed down a bit but baby meltdown 1 was in full progress. Luckily we landed and the noise from the landing distracted him enough so that baby meltdown 1 was only mercifully 10 minutes long.

At this point, I'm frazzled and tired, and HOT! It was ridiculously hot on that plane! I think because it was a full flight there were just a lot of body heat and not enough air.

Then I had to rush to get to my next flight and I had less than an hour to get to the concourse and I knew Atlanta was a big airport and was afraid I'd be walking a lot. (Did I mention that as soon as I got off the plane I had to pee? Pregnant remember?)

So it was crazy busy, and I'm walking/waddling as fast as I can to make sure I don't miss my flight and get to a bathroom. Wilson is being fine again, tons for him to watch and distract him now.

Apparently they are doing some remodeling around there because their elevators suck! I had to take one and it was super tiny and I had to squeeze in there with 2 other people and we all barely fit. Then I had to take another one down to get to another concourse and that one there was a line for the elevator! Luckily, my gate was literally right next to the elevator right when we got down so I wasn't even late. I literally showed up and boarded immediately since they were just starting to board.

At this time, I just know this flight is going to be a little worse. It's right around naptime. And when my son doesn't nap or is tired.... He literally turns into our favorite nickname for him "Baby Monster"

Wilson is such a sweet, fun boy, but man when he is tired he is the crabbiest, most UNHAPPY boy on all the planet.

So once again, I get lucky and get seated next to a very sweet older lady, who is a grandmother. She was wearing tons of interesting jewelery, from her rings, to a watch, to a HUGE necklace, and earrings.

Wilson immediately wanted to get to know her better so thanks to this kind-hearted lady, she let my son climb all over her and play with all her jewelery. We were able to distract him for a bit and the plan was up in the air and I needed to change Wilson's very full diaper at this point.

I was so worried about missing my flight, I literally peed in the toilet and ran out. (but I did wash my hands) so I didn't have time to change a wriggly little almost 16 month old. All his juice drinking really did him in and his bottom was actually starting to leak just a very small amount.

So. We were seated fairly close to the front and I had to go ALL the way to the back, with baby, and diaper bag. I'm pretty sure we smacked a couple people as we made our way back there.

Also on a side note, I happened to see my cousin-in-law's husband on the very same flight! How fun is that to run into someone you know on a flight!

Anyhoo. So into the lavatory we go and boy is it tiny in there. I first do a potty break for myself, because again, once I got up, I had to pee.

I apparently hadn't shut the door all the way and didn't realize it because it was pretty dark in there.

So over the toilet there is a changing station. Really it's just a plastic board that folds down but it is meant to be used as such.

Changing an almost 16 month old, who is very wriggly and wanting to look at everything and NOT lay down for a diaper change, was just... let's just say I had to manhandle my child and I barely won.

That ate up a good 10 minutes and so back to our seat we went. When I sat down, Wilson was then pretty much over it all. Naptime it was and he was tired! We also had once again started to descend a bit and it caused for more ear popping.

Baby Meltdown 2 had now begun. This time I KNEW he was tired, KNEW there was nothing he could do except just lay in my arms, even though he didn't want to and just held him and tried to rock him.

He cried, kicked, flailed, screamed, as I held him in my arms. Slowly, he started to tire himself out and closed his eyes and then thankfully fell asleep.

He slept for about 20 minutes right up to when the plane had landed and was pulling into the concourse.

I was sooo glad both flights were only a bit over an hour long, but they felt soooo much longer.

Our total traveling time was over 4 hours and I was completely exhausted!

our return flight story will be blogged about next but Wilson finally woke up so I've got some baby wrangling to do!

29 weeks!

How far along? 29 weeks! I have 11 weeks left?!?! EEK!
Weight gain/loss: 130.8 so I have now gained 15.3 pounds from my first weigh in!
Maternity clothes? Yes and no. My maternity shirts are still kind of baggy on me, my shorts fit me well, and my non-maternity shirts are starting to ride up showing off belly. So it's a little of everything.
Stretch marks? None yet!
Sleep? Sleep is just a pain. It's sooo hard getting comfortable when your pelvis is just aching and you are big and can't move and you like to sleep on your stomach.
Best moment this week? Finally being done with traveling!
Food cravings: I want to eat everything! Of course! Love love love fresh fruit though.
Gender: still a baby girl! Callie Joy!
Belly button in or out? It's not in nor out. It's in that weird in between stage right before it starts to pop out.
Movement? Lots of movement. She is awake in the morning and again right before I go to bed. That's when she does her karate!
What I miss? Not getting exhausted so easily. Being able to pick Wilson up, not having to take forever getting up if I have to chase after him.
What I'm looking forward to: Well I'm not really looking forward to it but I can't wait for it to be over is our move to our new base! I'm looking forward to getting all settled in and basically prepare for Callie's big arrival! Make some new friends (hopefully) and just enjoy this time right now as a one baby household. Pretty soon it's going to be two! AHHH!!

Back home!

I have been gone for almost 2 weeks! Unfortunately my blog will have to be rather short. I have tons to do around the house and a toddler to chase after! (Did I mention I am now 7 months pregnant?)

I still need to do a late belly shot/baby update and blog about my travel adventures with my toddler and belly.

Maybe around nap time I'll be able to get everything I want accomplished done! Wish me luck!
