sometimes...

when the sun is just bright enough and I look into my son's eyes... I see a beautiful world, mixed in with brown streaks and just a hint of green, and I know that this love is the most beautiful thing that you could ever create. A gift given to me everyday.

Bossypants

Andy bought me Bossypants by Tina Fey about a week ago and I just finished it while Wilson was napping. He is now awake and eating his second breakfast, but I had to blog really quick about one of the chapters in the book that really spoke to me as a mother.

It's called "There's a Drunk Midget in my House" and she talks about how she tried to breastfeed and humorously talks about "Teat Nazis"

Here's a link to the chapter if you want to read it.

http://books.google.com/books?id=gszyGuchgQkC&lpg=PT92&ots=ilQCP-gwSD&dq=theres%20a%20drunk%20midget%20in%20my%20house&pg=PT89#v=onepage&q&f=false

Okay, so a lot of the breastfeeding mommies I know aren't Teat Nazis. They don't try to make me feel bad that I stopped breastfeeding or anything like that. But if you are a breastfeeding mom and still currently doing it, then you don't really understand my mommy guilt. You worked hard, you sacrificed, and now your child is reaping the benefits, which is that breastmilk.
Unfortunately for me, normally what that translates into is I didn't try hard enough, I didn't do something enough and so Formula=Failure and my child is somehow less than yours.
Formula translates into my child will be sicker, not as smart, and possibly overweight, while your breastfed baby will never get sick, be a genius, and probably look like a supermodel. I know that's not true, but with all the pro breast milk and formula=poison propaganda it's hard to not take it like that sometimes.

Like I said it's really hard to explain because as a mother we all carry around some type of Mommy Guilt.
I have had to learn that no matter what as long as Wilson is healthy and happy, (which he is 99.5%) then anything I do really doesn't matter, but that doesn't mean I don't still carry around my mommy guilt.

I give my kid french fries?!?! *GASP*

I let him eat pretty much everything as he is a monster now and furiously protests if you eat anything in front of him and don't share. But dang if I don't feel mommy guilt for not giving him organic, pesticide, hormone free potatoes that I cut up and skinned and baked myself for 40 minutes in the oven.

Anyways I really enjoyed reading her short chapter on this, she was able to put humor into something that I could relate to and struggle with.

She also has another hilarious chapter relating to daughters and it's called "The Mother's Prayer for Its Daughter"

I don't have a daughter yet but it definitely gave me a laugh too.

But now it's time to play with Wilson for a couple more hours until he starts making cranky whiney noises that let me know that it is time once again for another nap.

New Name!

Decided to go for a shorter and more relevant blog name so here it is!

I didn't have to move anything so that's good but I wonder if people are going to not know where to go anymore? I'll have to update on facebook and hopefully people will see and get the memo.

The only thing I can't figure out is, my blogs I follow have disappeared. I'll have to figure that out!

*edit to* I figured it out! Yay!!

Tired!

Last night was a rough night..

Andy had gotten a root canal done yesterday, and so I picked him up and we proceeded to go home and wind down. About 6-7 pm, Andy started complaining that his mouth really hurt. He had taken some tylenol but they hadn't sent him home with anything, since normally a root canal, you get the nerve taken out of your tooth, thus eliminating any feeling in that tooth.

So it was a little odd that he was saying that his tooth was hurting. Fast forward to right around 8pm and now, he was in the full throes of pain. The tylenol obviously wasn't working, and I was at a loss.

I had just gotten Wilson to bed, so I suggested him driving to the ER on base, to at the very least give him something stronger.

The timing was horrible though because Andy has to wake up extra early on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at a little after 3 am. YUCK!

So I knew that him going was going to cut into the few hours of sleep he might get. He ended up having to wait about an hour or more before getting prescribed some Vicodin and Motrin. I think he finally was home after 10 pm.

But he had a horrible time sleeping and told me he woke up at about 1 am to take some pain medication. Which means he barely got 2 hours of sleep when he finally had to wake up.

He woke up feeling nauseous, I think from taking the pain meds on an empty stomach. So I actually got up and went down and got him something to drink.

He was able to sit out of doing PT this morning, and went to the Dentist and was able to get his filling in his root canal fixed, which apparently was the cause of all the pain.

Tonight we are all going to bed extra early! And hopefully there won't be anything or any certain baby waking us up in the middle of the night!

Etsy & Trafalgar Square

Back in January 2010 I did a blog called Late Night Etsy Buy

I blogged about how I had bought 3 prints from etsy from a wonderful little shop called Trafalgar's Square

I ended up buying one more print which I loved!

It's called Flyboy

and so I bought 2 8x10 frames and 2 5x7 frames and hung them up.

Only I felt like the flyboy print was out of place with the 3 other elephant pictures... I bought it on a whim because I felt like it sooo looked like my little boy, even though I didn't know what my little boy would look like. But how surprising that in a way, the little flyboy does resemble my own little man. I think its the light hair, that I was not expecting my son to have!

Anyways I've decided to reframe the flyboy one and bought another print to replace it.

Keep Rolling why didn't I find you before? You are adorable!!!

I just love love love her prints. There's something just so sweet and simple and just timeless about them!

Something In May...

Is coming up soonish! Last year I had hoped and hoped that Wilson would arrive before Mother's Day so I could officially celebrate it, but life has other plans and so did Wilson!

So this year will be my first official mother's day and I will have had almost a whole year of actual mothering done.

I mostly want to blog about what I want my mother's day gift to be! Yes, I am one of those women that expect presents even on "non official" holidays.

Of course anything made or done by my children one day will be the most treasured, but I think I also get to somehow acquire things that Mommy may actually want or needs.

So this is my newest drooling over item that Mommy wants:

a Timi & Leslie Diaper bag

more specifically this one
in bronze. (But I'll take it any other color if necessary)

I know I know, I already have 2 diaper bags, and purses that are big enough to be considered their own diaper bag of sorts..

but in true Anna fashion, I want more!!!

I really hope I get it or am allowed to buy it! I honestly can't see myself wanting to buy another bag after getting this one. It literally has everything I could want and doesn't "look" like a diaper bag, but has the pockets and all the other useful things that my oversized purses don't seem to have, like a Key fob, oh and the little purse that I can use? GENIUS!

With this whole budget crisis thing going on in the goverment, unfortunately it would not be wise for me to go and spend this amount right now since we aren't really sure if or when Andy will be getting paid again.

Hopefully they get it resolved soon though so maybe mommy can get her a diaperbag! Oh and I guess for the rest of the country and the people serving who may be affected negatively by this!

Birthday present for Wilson.

So I know I have like more than a month and a half to even think about buying him a present, and he's a baby. It's not like he will get all excited thinking I bought him a gift, BUT... I thought this would be the best investment and we have tons of room in the house for it so here is what I got Wilson:

A MEGA PLAYLAND

It seems to have pretty good reviews with only a couple bad ones. Wilson has a little tunnel that he loves to crawl in and out of, and I thought he would really enjoy this as it has a whole bunch more to crawl around in and out of.

I bought another pack of balls to go with it as well and maybe buy a small inflatable pool later on and then I can fill that up with balls too.

I can't wait to get the rest of the living room cleared up so I can set this up for him! I hope he enjoys it because it looks like a ton of fun to mommy!
