It's Ok Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

I'm linking up this morning to do It's Ok Thursdays. So to start off with.

Its Ok :

To let Wilson watch Sesame Street while I do this. Callie is napping in the swing. I'm drinking a hot chocolate.

To pin a hundred things on pinterest that you will probably never do/complete.

To sometimes speak your mind about politics on Facebook because lets face it. There is some crazy stuff people are trying to do!

To let your cloth diapers sit a little bit longer because you don't want to do ANOTHER load.

To be happy that you lost all your baby weight and somehow with it what little butt along with it.

To be sad that you lost what little of your butt you had to begin with.

To not have my house clean. (I do have a toddler that gives me a good excuse right?)

To do absolutely nothing when the weather is ugly outside. BLEH

To be nervous about taking your baby girl to a specialist to see if there is anything wrong with her pooping.

To want to buy your kids absolutely everything. Every cute outfit, fun toy, anything at all!

To secretly wish you had a day or two where you didn't have to take care of your kids even though you are a stay at home mom.

To think that women pinning things about other women's bodies is creepy and unrealistic. Come on if you have hips and a short torso guess what? YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO HAVE A 6 PACK!

To want to be able to go to prom again. This time with a date.

To worry constantly that I'm not being a good enough parent. I can't help it! I keep seeing people post about how people should have to take a test before becoming parents and I think to myself "Crap, I'd probably fail it."

Well thats it for now. Time to make my son some breakfast!

Five Question Friday

1. Where is your favorite vacation spot and why?
I don't have a favorite yet. I have places I want to go and experience. But if I had to say just one it will always be the beach. Someplace warm, sunny, and not too crowded.
I love getting to go places although since having two babies, we haven't done any. That's okay though. I know sometime in the future we will be taking all sorts of different ones so maybe I'll find out then where my favorite spot is.

2. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Getting to eat chocolate covered strawberries. Oh man. I don't just sample one though. I HAVE to eat at least six. In one sitting. Pleasure for me though = food hands down.

3. What is your favorite fashion trend right now? Or, in the past?
I'm so not a fashion person. I wish I were. So I can't really say I have a favorite. I'm loving my leggings/jeggings though. They are so comfy!

4. What are your spring break plans?
Spring break? What am I 17 years old? I have absolutely none. I'm sure when my kids are old enough and start getting spring breaks we might try to do something but as for right now. Nothing.

5. What baby names do you hate?
I really can't stand some of these celebrity baby names. Like for instance the newest one, Blue Ivy. Sorry. It's just too weird. I don't really care that the "blue" is significant for something. It's a color. And you named your daughter that. Or Apple. That's a fruit. What's significant about that?
I won't say I hate them. I just don't understand why you name your child something so weird like that?

Selfish mommy.

So with friends posting about the unsafeness of co sleeping, why am I posting a picture of it?
It's because I'm selfish. Callie sleeps in her bassinet for 5-6 hours and then wakes up to nurse. Normally this is at 4 or 5 am.
I pick her up and nurse her laying in bed. She'll nurse for 15 minutes and fall asleep right there. I kind of adjust her and try to pull my tank/bra up.
She loves the softness of the boob and of course being snuggled right there.
Since its only a couple hours until Wilson gets up at 7. I let her sleep there. And I love it.
I love hearing her little breaths and grazing her sweet little cheek. I love how she always lays an arm right between my chest. As if she wants to be connected to my heart. Sweet girl, we already are.
I'm selfish because I don't want to put her back in the bassinet. I want her close to me.
We've been cosleeping pretty much from day one. I don't even want her to sleep in her crib and yet I bought one!
At some point it will happen. But for now I want to be selfish and snuggle her more.

So what had happened was...

Sometimes like today, I think I may be the only parent to ever experience stuff like this.
I got inspired to try and be a cleaner and more organized person.
This morning was like any other. Both babies were awake. I turn on Sesame Street for Wilson. Nurse Callie until she passes out again.
So then she fell asleep, Wilson was what I thought watching the TV so I run into the kitchen and try to unload/load the dishwasher.
I realize that it is entirely too quiet in the living room.
Normally this means that Wilson has found the controller, changed the channel, somehow gotten my phone and deleting everything off of it.
I look around the corner and see him standing on his slide toy. More specifically I notice something on both of his hands.
What did he get into that would make that?
Why yes. My son pooped and squished it through both his hands. YUCK.

The worst thing is I checked him right before going in the kitchen. I know his schedule and was expecting one.
What I did not expect in that less than 10 minute time frame is that he would know he deuced it and proceed to check it out with his hands.

So my attempt at being clean/productive turned into disinfect everything and give my son a bath.
While he was taking his bath I just HAD to call my in laws to tell them about what THEIR grandson had done.

My father in law told me to write this down so I'd have a funny story to look back on in life.
When poop is involved. I'm not laughing.

Crunchy crunch

It seems so funny to me that I am doing all these "crunchy" parenting ideas with Callie that I didn't do with Wilson.
First off breastfeeding, I drove myself crazy trying to breastfeed Wilson and finally switched to formula after a mini-breakdown. Hormones and new baby were just a little too much for me. We were both so much happier switching though. Wilson didn't even realize what he was missing!
Callie on the other hand, I planned to formula feed. After my failure with Wilson, I figured it would be better for my sanity to just choose formula. Even at the hospital, to the annoyance of my nurses I chose formula. Callie wasn't really interested at eating at first. My milk came in like 5 days after and I was super engorged so I figured "why not?" I figured I would nurse or pump until my supply ran dry and like Wilson be a formula baby.
Only once Callie started latching on she didn't like the bottle. She would push the nipple out and just kind f look at me like "yeah right mom. Where's the good stuff?"
I was in total shock. Wilson being the little piggy he was had no problem switching and didn't miss boob at all.
So here we are at almost 2.5 months and I am almost exclusively breastfeeding.
I say almost because she gets super fussy or hungry in the evening and I'm sucked dry. So I normally make a bottle in the evening.

Another "crunchy" thing I do with Callie is cloth diapering.
With Wilson we lived in apartments and didn't have the washer/dryer or even a cloth diapering service. We did our laundry at our in laws and I didn't want to clean them in theirs.
We now live in a house and have a washer and dryer.
But heres a confession, Callie is cloth diapered but Wilson is not.
He keeps getting terrible rashes from them. I'd have to change him like every hour to not get a rash but Callie doesn't have that issue yet.
I don't think it's anything with the cloth I just think Wilson has a strong uric acid that makes him get rashes faster if he is in it too long.
I normally put a cloth on him for nap and bedtime but for the most part he is in disposables.
The only thing I didn't do super crunchy was natural childbirth. After laboring with Wilson forever before I finally got an epidural, I can say that they can keep their natural childbirth. I'll take the drugs thank you very much. It's no wonder women died in childbirth back in the day.

Oh and I co-sleep/bed share with Callie right now. We have a guest bed so Andy sleeps there and Callie and I get our bed all to ourselves. I'm not gonna lie sometimes I really enjoy cosleeping and just rolling over and nursing her and cuddling. And then other times not so much.
I think since Wilson was formula fed, we didn't bed share/cosleep as much.
I just hope that I can get Callie sleeping in her crib at some point. My worst fear is having a kid who won't sleep in their own bed.
But for right now I'm enjoying it!

2 months old!

Callie is now 2 months old... And a couple days but two whole months! I constantly try to remember if Wilson did the same things at the same time. She is now smiling and tries to talk when I talk to her. Or at least I think she is trying to talk back to me. Unfortunately we don't go to the Ped until the 15th. Which is the day after Valentine's day.

I can't wait to see how much she has gained, how big she is getting, and to discuss her bowel movements. I'm a little worried about it to be honest.

She is 80% breastfed with maybe one or two feedings that may be formula or pumped milk a day. The worry I seem to have is she does not poop all that much. She hasn't pooped all that much ever since she came home and passed all the meconium out.

She is very gassy all the time but it doesn't cause her discomfort for the most part. She goes between 2-3 days before she finally passes a stool and it's a light greenish to pea green color with the little cottage cheeses in it. It's almost like a pudding consistency so at least I know she's not  constipated.

But since she has so much gas I worry that maybe she has digestive issues?
I'm pretty sure Wilson was pooping like every day if not multiple times a day and she is not.

I looked up on the internet and it said that it was normal for breastfed babies to not pass stool as much? But then I go to another link that says she should be pooping after every feeding?

So I'm just very confused in general.

Honestly, my mommy esp is kinda going off about it. It seems normal but is it? I love how this whole blog post has turned into about Callie's poop.
