Boys...

are just crazy. I don't know about most of my friends, but from half the pictures they have all shared. They've never attempted to do half the stuff my son comes up with. (climbing in a bookshelf? Sitting in a crockpot? Riding a bike down the stairs?) Yeah. So Wilson's new obsession is playing with the faucets anywhere he can. He climbs up onto the toilet. Uses the toilet paper holder as a stepping stone and climbs onto the counter. Our downstairs bathroom is close quarters but his upstairs guest bath is a bit more spacious. I'm really lucky he didn't fall. Not that it would've stopped him. So I found him, clothed, sitting in the faucet. So I undress him, since he's wearing cloth, I have to get him a new diaper. So I go back downstairs and grab another diaper. Come back up and he's back at it. So I snapped a picture. Because it's hilarious. Callie on the other hand is at the super great stage where she can sit up, but not GO anywhere. I wonder if she is going to be anything like her brother when she hits the toddler stage. GOSH, I HOPE NOT!!!

21 July 2012

It's your weekend, my Monday.

The hubs works shift work and I am so happy he's on day shift although I know it'll change soon. Maybe next month or the month after, who knows?

So yesterday was our last day off before work.

I let hubs sleep in and baby wrangled. Callie passed out in the jumper and Wilson eating his yogurt.

Presh.

But this morning little miss wakes up a whole hour earlier. No point in sleeping but I'm far to tired to get up and do anything yet. Yawn.

So blog on my phone it is!

We have been having issues with Wilson and his playing, especially playing with friends.

He will try to take the toys others are playing with. Sometimes if he can't get them away, he then tries to hit.

We remove him, tell him it's okay to let others play with the toys, if he actually hits, he goes up in his bed for timeout.

This two year old stage is so hard! The constant repetition drives me crazy.
Andy handles it better than me, but I'm also the one home all day with him.

I think for the most part he is in a normal stage, except for the fact that he isn't talking well. He didn't qualify for early steps because he was only delayed in the verbal communication.

I've been trying to give him choices when it comes to snacks, where he wants to sit, to try to get him to verbalize what he wants.

He is liking the choices but I haven't seen an increase in the verbalizing yet. He is starting to say a couple more words though.
So I am hopeful that this is just something that is taking his little stubborn brain longer to process with.

I may get him re-evaluated again to see if at that point he would qualify for speech therapy. But I have to wait 90 days. Which by now it's probably only been half that.

He seems bright, I don't think it's a hearing issue, he passed an autism screening, he jabbers constantly.

I'm just waiting for it all to make sense to him.

Callie is growing fast as well. Rolling all over the place and sitting up unassisted. She will still sometimes fall over, but for the most part can sit up.

She LOVES her bouncer. She falls asleep in it, bounces in it, really interacts with all the toys on it. Besides watching her brother or any kid, the bouncer is one of her favorites.

She does have a little more separation anxiety, sometimes when she gets tired, she will fuss. And if I walk out of her eyeline? Oh man, she gets so angry!

Just the other day Wilson and hubs were in the living room with her, she was getting fussy, but Andy was trying to soothe her, so I walk out to the kitchen, two seconds later she is literally howling.

Andy comes in the kitchen and she immediately calms down.

Does this mean I have a momma's girl? ;)

Either way, today is my Monday. I can't wait to see what my little ones will be up to today!!!

Toddlers have a better social life than I do...

^ says it all.

We have had a lot of fun playing these past couple days!

And I'm exhausted.

Toddle Along Tuesday: Cloth Diapering and my spatula.

When I saw that this week's TAT would be Cloth Diapers, I couldn't wait to blog about my experiences so far with cloth diapering.

So to start off, before I had Wilson, I had read up on cloth diapering. I thought, "Oh, I will save money! Oh, I will be more eco-friendly! This sounds great!"

And then looking at my two bedroom apartment with no washer/dryer hookup, reality hit me.
There was no way for us cloth diapering would be affordable if we were having to pay over 3.00 to use the laundry facility. Frankly, the facility was uber creepy in the basement in another building. I was scared someone would steal my stuff. So, I had to scrap that plan until we moved to where I would have my own washer and dryer.
I had read of some people being able to make not having their own laundry work, but for me, I just didn't want to do it.

So when we finally moved, I finally was able to invest in my stash and start my adventures in cloth diapering.

I have to say though, having my son in disposables for his first year in life, I realized how easy I had it.

I had a lot of messups in the beginning.  Leaks and rashes galore. I was so lazy because of my disposables that instead of really trying to commit to it, I decided I'd give up and go back to disposables.

Plus poop talk here, Wilson didn't have those perfect turds that would just roll off into the toilet. His were always smushy. Sometimes they were just CAKED in there. I invested in a pair of rubber gloves and would sit over the toilet with a brush just trying to scrub poop out.

UGH. So yeah. I was like "Screw this."

Then, I decided with Callie that she would be cloth diapered from the beginning. I blamed my laziness and failure with Wilson because I had started too late.

So I invested in some with her as well, because of course I HAD to get some girly prints for her right?

A stash of diapers, mostly Bumgenius.

New bumgenius! Love the lovelace print there! So CUTE!
Bumgenius, flip covers, and blueberry covers, all stuffed and ready to go.

I didn't buy any newborn diapers. I instead waited until she fit the smalls I had bought. I'm glad I didn't though. Adjusting to now two little ones, one an 18 month old and one a newborn, I'm pretty sure I couldn't have handled it.

Little sumo wrestler stinks.

I started slacking again, I had been buying disposables for Wilson and started to buy one for Callie. I reasoned it by saying "Oh, for when we go out. My wetbag sucks. The cloths take up so much room."

Soon enough, buying her a small pack, ended up a box, and for about a month and a half, I was now buying 2 boxes, one for Wilson and one for her. Watching our money go down the drain, when in the laundry room, I had an investment of about 200-350 dollars just sitting there not being used. (I had scored an awesome deal on some used cloth diapers for Wilson)

So here I am now, back in FULL force with diapering both kiddos. I'm committed to washing their diapers every day, even if I'm lazy, even if I don't want to do it.

I've been 100% cloth diapering both for about 2 weeks now. I've been stuffing and double stuffing like a mad woman. I've been hanging out in the laundry room with my spatula scraping off the poo that both Wilson and Callie are now pooping out.

It's not easy, it's not glorious, yes it stinks. But you know what, I can do it. It's not the end of my life, I'm a mother, I wipe butts and clean up puke and spit up, and messes. A little bit of poo and pee is not going to kill me.

I might invest in a couple more diapers though. Last night I had to put Wilson in a pink Bumgenius because well, that's all we had clean! Haha I would've taken a picture but I don't want to scar my kid completely for life.

Must watch my children more carefully.

A couple mornings ago Wilson gave Callie a piece of his toast. A rather big piece. Ummm choking hazard? Anyways, I videotaped her trying to nomz on it and bounce at the same time. She wasn't upset that I took her toast away though so that's good. I guess I need to start giving her more real food rather than baby food.

Then yesterday morning, I was trying to swap out my old stroller's seat frame because one of the straps had broken. Well while I was trying to take the EVIL thing apart. (Seriously it was insane how ridiculous it was, why wouldn't you just make the straps be able to come out and not the WHOLE DAMN THING! UGH) Wilson decided to do this.

I love my children. Haha.

It's "OK" Thursday 7/12

Its Ok Thursdays

I haven't done one in a while but both babies are napping and I can actually sit down and write one out! Whoo hoo! So here we go!

 It's OK

  • to do facebook friend cleaning every now and then. My husband thinks I'm weird because I will unfriend people who I don't interact with. Don't interact with me? *Unfriend* I personally use mine as a way to stay in touch with friends and family. So yes, you will see 100 pictures of my kids. Yes, you will see me post status updates about my daily life. I also don't like the hide feature. Why hide someone? Just unfriend them, stop being a chicken about it!

  •   to have a messy house! Life is for the living, not for cleaning 24/7! (really I'm just saying this because I never want to clean)

  • I made my own laundry detergent and hate the way it smells. Oh and it's going to last me for a year. So I have a year of hating the smell.

  • to hide certain books that your toddler wants you to read to him multiple times a day. We're going on a bear hunt and mommy is about to kill herself if she has to read it to you one more time! ARGH! ;)

  •  to get stressed out at the thought of flying with 2 small ones. We are going on a trip in August and I'm already stressed! What if my kids throw tantrums and they kick us off the plane!?? ACK! Xanax stat!

  • to be glad that I didn't start having kids at a younger age. Sometimes I feel like an ageist because I have met so many younger moms, and I always think "Holy shizz, I would want to kill myself if I were a mom at that age." And then I feel bad for being a judge-y person, because their choice was not one I would've made. Mostly, I'm just glad I didn't do that to myself, I'm glad I had my years of growing up, being free from the hard work that is motherhood. It would've been really hard for me, trying to do that and trying to take care of someone else. I definitely was NOT ready. Shoot, I'm still not ready and I'm 28!

  •  to miss those years of singleness and freedom. Often times I think about what I would've done differently. I would've gone out more, traveled more, bought more things for myself, (probably all hello kitty stuff) drank and ate more (eat now while your metabolism is still going!) dated around more. As they say hindsight is 20/20.

So now I have a little 7 month old girl who is waiting for her mommy so I must wrap this up. =) Happy Thursday everyone!

4th of July

We had a wonderful 4th of July yesterday!

Andy got to be on live TV on the Local News. He was nervous, I can't seem to find a way to share the actual video but here's a link to the video on their website. Andy's on the News

Andy had to work so I spent the day just hanging out with the babies like a normal day. Put them in their red white and blue outfits. Nothing super expensive or anything.

But they sure are adorable!!

Callie is now 7 months old and finally starting to figure out sitting up. She still is wobbly but doing well!

Because Callie is getting bigger and more mobile, and grabby, Wilson is having some toddler sharing issues.

He will take things out of Callie's hands and run off saying "MINE!" So we are working on that.
